The specific aims of the Guild of Public Relations Practitioners as set out in its statutes are to:
- Promote the value of public relations and propagate its use, especially in the City and for the benefit of the City of London.
- Develop support for education for young and more established public relations practitioners, including a mentoring scheme that is relevant and appropriate to our profession.
- Promote charitable endeavour, raising money and providing support for the Guild's Charitable Trust and other relevant charities.
- Foster good fellowship and discussion in the profession.
Promoting best practice is an objective the Guild shares with the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, which helps individuals to acquire skills and knowledge that will enhance their value to employers, and with the Public Relations Consultants Association that aims to do the same for member consultancies and thus enhance their value to clients.
The Guild is an additional forum, open to those in public relations who share our commitment to enhancing and promoting the value of our profession, and for putting something back into the community, particularly through charitable giving and fund-raising.
